Perfect Finish
Each box is carefully sanded to ensure a true surface before finishing and then coated using a hard wearing polyurethane lacquer. This finish is very durable and produces a tactile smooth surface that is lovely to touch and hold. The finish also contains an antiyellowing agent and ultraviolet inhibitor to help protect the bright colours from fading, however it is recommended that the work is not placed in direct sunlight to avoid the possibility of colour changes over time. Unlike oil finishes, polyurethane lacquer does not need any particular aftercare, other than the occasional dust!
Lid
This box has a lift-off lid that is held in place by wooden linings carefully fitted and mitered to the inside of the box. The lid is perfectly fitted so that it is almost invisible on first glance, almost as though it’s just a block of wood with a patterned top rather than a box.
