Image Panels

Image panels are conceptual in their nature and convey a response to an awareness or notion.  They are made from layers of wood veneer molded over undulating formers to create a form that possesses movement and flow; the nature of wood veneer resists this molding and lends elements of randomness in the form of splits and creases to the process.

The surface is a combination of accurately cut hand dyed sycamore squares and torn and broken burr oak veneer which is fumed and sand blasted, giving it a distinctive dark tone with an open texture.  The juxtaposition of the lustrous, precisely cut sycamore squares and the dark, torn burr creates an absorbing and beguiling piece of work.
